Fish must be caught on Derby Day and from China Lake.
All fish must be in line at the Firehouse on Causeway Road by 4 PM on Derby Day to qualify for a prize.
All State and local laws apply.

Alan Young Memorial Fishing Award

Congratulations to Jackson Mclane
for catching the 1.16 lb. White Perch

New this year, the Alan Young Memorial Fishing Award will recognize the angler who catches the largest White Perch by weight on China Lake during the derby, with a (drum roll please…) $2,500 cash prize!! Thank you to several generous donations for making this happen.

Alan Young was a longtime resident of China, Maine, and a dedicated angler with a particular love for ice fishing—especially for perch. Thank you to the thoughtful members of our community for making this amazing award happen.

This award honors Alan’s passion for the sport and the lake he loved, while adding an exciting new tradition to this year’s competition.
